Step-By-Step Images and Instructions
1.
Start with a black pen, and draw a small, curved "m" shape, angled slightly, in the middle of your page. Follow this with two small marks inside each of the curves of the "m". This will be the nose of your monkey.
2.
Add a short, curved vertical line below this, and then add a curved horizontal line, with short marks at either end, for the mouth.
3.
Add a curve to the bottom of this line to complete the mouth…
4.
And then add another "m" shape inside this for a tongue.
5.
Now, add curved lines around both sides for the face.
6.
Draw two "horseshoe" shapes at the top of this section, with smaller horseshoe shapes inside.
7.
Use the black pen to add a dot to each, creating eyes…
8.
And then add four marks connecting the black dots to the outside of the eye.
9.
Next, add a curved shape to the top – like a tall "m" – for the top of the face.
10.
Bring a curved line up on the left, add three "tufts", and then curve the line down on the right.
11.
Now, add three more "tufts" to the bottom of either side and connect these to the bottom of the face.
12.
Now, add two more sets of "double horseshoes" – one on either side – for those distinctive monkey ears.
13.
Now, add a "potato" shape to the space below the face, and add a curved line to the center of this.
14.
Bring a curved line across from the right, and then up at a 90-degree angle. Add a curved shape to the top of this for one finger, and then repeat this to the right.
15.
Bring the line down at the side of the second finger, and then add two more to the right, poking out from the top.
16.
Add a jagged line to the bottom of the hand…
17.
And then continue the curved line down and across to the left, creating an arm.
18.
Now, bring the line down, out to the right, and then add three tufts as you bring the line across to the bottom left-hand corner, and add three more tufts.
19.
Now, add another set of three fingers and a thumb to the bottom of this.
20.
Bring the top of the line across, parallel with the one below, and then up and curved across to the left to create the bottom of the body.
21.
Add a curved line heading towards the bottom left-hand corner of the page, and then bring down a line ending in another tuft.
22.
Add another set of fingers and thumbs to the bottom…
23.
And then bring up a line on the other side, with a tuft at the top. Then, bring a line across towards the top right-hand corner.
24.
Bring a line up for the side of the body, and then take a line up towards the top right corner of the page, ending in another tuft of fur.
25.
Bring two parallel lines up for the arm, joining these at the top with a jagged line…
26.
And then bring an "arrow" shape up, across, and down, before taking the line to the left of the page.
27.
Add a small "u" shape above the hand, and then bring another line across to the left – this will be the branch of the tree.
28.
Add three fingers gripping the branch.
29.
Now, extend the lines across to the right, joining these with a point at the end.
30.
Add a sharp, pointed twig to the bottom.
31.
And then add marks to the top and bottom, with pointed leaves on each.
32.
Add delicate lines inside the leaves…
33.
And then add a long, curved tail to the back of the monkey.
34.
Now for some color. Grab a light orange pen, and shade the feet and hands, the tummy, the ears, and the face.
35.
Take a darker orange pen, and use this to add color to the outside section of the body, and the tree branch at the top.
36.
Next, use a green pen for the leaves on the tree…
37.
And use a blue pen for the eyes, leaving the spaces in between white.
38.
Grab a pink pen, and add color to the tongue…
39.
And then use a brown pen for the inside of the mouth. Congratulations, your monkey drawing is ready!
And there we have it – your very own cute cheeky monkey swinging from a tree – all he needs is a name!
